Model Makers Showcase

James Craggs, came across ‘The Complete Car Modeller’ in the early 1980’s, and being particularly interested in creating miniatures of classic Motor Cycles, considered what the possibilities might be, to do for them what had been done with Classic Cars.  Like with so many others, the project was put on the back shelf until he retired, by which time the new techniques of 3D drafting and printing were hitting the technical news sheets.  As a newly retired anesthetist with only a little background in engineering, but an enthusiasm for computer graphics, the new techniques appealed to him as a possible way forward, so he set about teaching him self how to work with the new processes.

The 1/6th scale 1924 Croft Cameron motor cycle miniature is the result, this being his second subject so made, the first being a 1924 BSA - Tyres are in Silicone rubber, moulded in 3D printed moulds - Wheels are brass rod spoked, with 80% of the remainder created on the 3D printing machine.  He also developed ways to plate the parts in copper and nickel. James Craggs is based in Lincolnshire, England.
