The Falls of Clyde - the Iron Hull

The deck house is fabricated from sheet brass assembled in stages with silver solder, then finally being put together with the aid of soft solder.  It is mounted on a plate of brass, that is clipped in place between the deck beams.  The Bilge Pumps are of a unique patented design from 1869, that substituted a cam shaft with 4 cams and cylinders for the more usual crank shaft with 2 cranks and cylinders.  The illustrations are part of the original drawings showing the principal of the operation of the cams, together with my first attempt to see how it would work with a card model, and finally the start of my working drawing to form the shape of the cam.
