After all the parts are cleaned and before the painting can start all are provided with a handle by which they can be held and manipulated under the airbrush, and also be safely stored to dry.  Handles can be wooden dowel rod, as for the wheels, surgical forceps, strips of wood with double sided tape and wire frames to which parts can be bolted.  The exhaust system is first tinned with a soft solder paint then heated and wiped clean, leaving just a trace of the tinning, before being dipped into an acid solution to get the burnt metal effect.
